Canon Color imageCLASS LBP7110Cw Review
Canon’s color printers are usually a range from great to outstanding, which makes it unexpected that the Canon Color imageClass LBP7110Cw ($279) isn’t. The best that can be said for it’s that it does not have any major problems.
However, it sheds factors for any variety of small issues—unimpressive speed, substandard output for the message, video, and pictures, meager paper capacity, and a high operating cost—without harmonizing the weak factors with any particular stamina. It works all right to use, but there is no engaging need to pick it over the competitors.
As a factor of contrast, the Samsung CLP-415NW —our Editors’ Choice for a durable, individual color printer or a medium-duty micro-office common color printer—costs just a bit more it outdoes the Canon printer on almost every score.
Compared to the LBP7110Cw ($281.00 at Amazon.com), the Samsung printer is much faster. It prints the better-looking output. It offers better paper handling, a 250-sheet capacity, plus a manual-feed making the LBP7110Cw’s solitary 150-sheet tray.
Remarkably, despite the greater paper capacity, the Samsung printer also handles being a bit smaller compared to the Canon model, making it easier to find room for. The LBP7110Cw measures 10 by 16 by 17.9 inches (HWD) and evaluates 41 extra pounds 14 ounces with printer toner cartridges installed.

The mix of dimension and paper capacity produces another small issue. The printer is too big to comfortably shape your workdesk to function as an individual printer, but with simply the 150-sheet tray, it is also too meager to offer well as a common printer. Quite simply, the LBP7110Cw does not in shape well in either role.
One potential plus for the printer is mobile publishing support, with the ability to publish from iOS and Android devices. However, you can connect to the printer just through your network access point, and just if the printer is connected to the network by Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
The configuration is standard fare, but just if you disregard the instructions that come with the printer. The easy choice is to install the drivers from the provided disc. However, the Fast Begin guide does not mention the disc. Rather it informs you to downloads the drivers and manual from Canon’s website.
Not just is the lack of any mention of the disc possibly confusing, in the Fast Begin guide does not work. Also, if they did, pro drivers you download the drivers by hand is an unneeded problem. Many printer installation programs consist of a choice for the configuration program online for upgraded driver and download or my tests immediately if necessary. There is no great reason for Canon production. You do the work rather.
Speed and Output Quality
I connected the printer to a wired network for my tests and installed the drivers on a Home windows View system. On our business applications collection (timed with QualityLogic’s software and hardware), I clocked the printer at 5.5 web pages each min (ppm). That matters as an appropriate speed for the 14ppm score for both color and black and white, but not an outstanding speed for the price.
The Samsung CLP-415NW was significantly much faster, at 6ppm, and both the Sibling HL-3140CW ($479.99 at Amazon.com) and the Sibling HL-3170CDW ($649.99 at Amazon.com) were much faster still, basically connected at about 6.8ppm. Because of context, the LBP7110Cw’s speed serves, but no better compared to that.
See How We Test Printers
The printer’s output quality is equally unimpressive. The message, video, and pictures in my tests were all slightly substandard for a laser, meaning that for each kind of output, the LBP7110Cw racked up listed below the range that consists of most of its competitors.
Thankfully, the information on output quality isn’t all bad. The message is still appropriate for almost any business use, as lengthy as you do not have an uncommon need for small font styles. Video output suffices for any interior need and possibly great enough for PowerPoint handouts or the such as lengthy, as you are not too a lot of a nit-picker. Picture quality suffices to publish identifiable pictures from webpages, but it is not appropriate for anything a lot more requiring than that.
Another issue that matters versus the printer is a high operating cost, at a declared 3.6 cents for a black and white web page and 20.6 cents for a shade web page. That is not very different from the Samsung CLP-415NW’s declared costs, but it is not balanced by any of the benefits the Samsung printer offers.
